Changed my diabetes care!

I got diabetes in October 2001, I was 5 years old. I always had good glucose levels until about 4th grade, when I started eating more then I should, or not giving myself enough insulin. I would come home from sleepovers and my glucose meter would just say "HI" it wouldn't give a number. I didn't care about diabetes. I hated it. I wished that I could just die because i was so fed up with it. I thought i could never achieve my dreams because of diabetes. I was so put down everyday, I hated lunchtime because i would have to go to the office to get my shot. I didn't want people to know I had diabetes. I thought they wouldn't like me. After going to a Jonas Brothers concert in February 2008, i was searching on youtube for videos. A video titled "Nick Jonas's Diabetes Speech" I was curious so i clicked on it. I sat here, in front of my computer watching that speech balling my eyes out remembering how I wished I could just die. I probably watched that video a hundred times, crying each and everytime. After that video, I changed myself with diabetes. I thought, Hey if NICK JONAS has diabetes and can be in an AMAZING band, then I can do whatever I want to. From that day forward, I count all my carbs correctly, I'm 13 now, and I need to be even more responsible living with diabetes. This was probably the biggest change of MY life, and if I didn't change, I would probably be dead. All my friends know I have diabetes, and they still like me. When people ask who is my hero, I ALWAYS say Nick Jonas. When they ask why, I said, if he didn't say he hadn't announced he has diabetes, I would probably be dead. Then they look at me shocked and say "Wow, he is a hero, I don't know what I would do without you Jen." I wanna thank you Nick, for being my hero, and inspiring me to manage my diabetes better. Thank You SOO Much!
