Be a Fan!

When I heard that the Jonas Brothers supported the Special Olympics, I was so excited! Special Olympics has been and is a huge part of my life! My 14 year old brother, Sam, has Down-Syndrome. Down-Syndrome is a condition where you are born with an extra chromosome. This means that they are behind in things such as speech, learning, etc. Despite this, these kids have great potential and we can help them acheive this by looking at their abilities, not their disability.
He is an acive participant in Special Olympics. He plays softball, basketball, bowling, and swimming. It has given him so much throughout the years! I really wanted to be able to do something hands-on with my brother and to make an impact in someone's life. So I decided to volunteer as a Special Olympics softball coach. Through doing this, I was able to make friendships with these kids and teach them important life skills also. I encourage everyone out there to 'Be a Fan!' (special olympics motto) and volunteer with special olympics or some organization that helps kids with special needs be the best they can be! It really will change your life! It changed mine! I learned how to be patientm, compassionate, happy, and humble. This story isn't for me though. It's for all the kids out there with special needs. You all are wonderful just the way you are and can do great things! Just keep believing!
Once again, thank you so much Jonas Brothers for supporting Special Olympics! You are amazing boys and I am so thankful that you give up your time and energy to support these great causes! My brother and I (along with many other special needs kids I know) love you guys! Thank you for making such inspirational music and keep livin' the dream! We are praying for you! Thanks again and 'Be a Fan!"
Love you boys!

Sincerely,
Emily and Sam (KY)
